How It Works

  1. 01Determination

Your utility's own record shows the 15 minutes that set your demand charge.

    1. Connect the utility account12 months of demand, every 15 minutes.
    2. Or upload the billsAny bill that shows kW.
    3. Photograph the panel scheduleEvery circuit, typed into a record.
    4. Your peak, foundThe 15 minutes that set your demand charge, and the day they fell on.

  2. 02Investigation

Meters on your circuits show what was running in the intervals that set your charge.

    1. Map the loadsEvery circuit to its load, and every load to its zone and process: food preparation, refrigeration.
    2. Find the intervals that set your chargeOne 15-minute interval sets the month's demand charge.
    3. See what was runningEvery load's share of that interval.
    4. Protect what must runLife safety, and anything you name.
    5. Find what can moveLoad that can run at another hour, or work less hard at the peak.

  3. 03Intervention

We identify which loads can move out of your peak, and how much each takes off it.

  4. 04Control Logic

We design control logic for your site that respects every constraint and never puts your operation at risk.

    1. We forecast your peak dayEach day we forecast when your site will use the most power, from the weather, your hours and your calendar, and mark the hours that could set a new peak.
    2. You choose what can pauseYou tell us which equipment can pause and for how long. Cold rooms and safety systems are never touched.
    3. We write a rule for each piece of equipmentFor example: when a peak is forecast, pause rooftop unit 2 for up to 15 minutes. You approve every rule.
    4. If anything goes wrong, it stopsIf readings stop or something looks wrong, your equipment goes back to running normally.

  5. 05Managed Capacity

We keep your peak under the target.

    1. We see the peak comingA forecast each day, and a check every minute.
    2. Your rules act before the targetOne load eases off for a few minutes, then comes back.
    3. What you need is never touchedProtected loads are never on the list.
    4. Held, month after monthEach month's peak, measured on your panel.
