Recover the capacity instead of buying more.

A study tells you what the panel has. Where that is not enough, the load can usually be moved rather than the service replaced. We find the recoverable kilowatts circuit by circuit, specify the fix, and measure the panel again afterwards.

What you get

Three deliverables, in this order.

Recovery Determination

Recoverable kW identified circuit by circuit from a 4 to 8 week instrumented window, with the fix specified: schedules, timers, relays, VFDs, setpoints. We specify what each one has to do, not which box to buy.

Not sealed. It is an engineering determination rather than a code submission.

Execution

A licensed electrician performs the work to the specification. We schedule it, we answer to it and we accept it against the spec.

The electrician holds the licence, the liability and the insurance for the work.

Recovery Verification

The same panel re-measured before and after, with the achieved kW stated. The engagement ends here rather than at a report.

Sealed. The revised NEC 220.87 basis on the recovered number is what a permit application stands on.
What it costs

From $10,000.

Quoted per site from your own panel: the boards in scope, the sensor plan, the length of the window and the execution allowance. There is no fixed total, because there is no fixed facility.

Whatever you paid for the study on this panel comes off the engagement.

California today.

The verification is a sealed document, and a seal is a credential a state board issues to a person. We run recovery engagements where we can stand behind that end to end, which today is California. Everywhere else the sealed load study is the answer, and it is the same determination.
