Use case · occupancy change

Changing a facility's use.

Office to restaurant, warehouse to gym, retail to medical. A change of use changes the load, and the AHJ will ask for the numbers.

The old tenant's meter cannot vouch for the new tenant's load.

  1. 01

Change-of-occupancy review asks one thing: can the existing service and feeders carry the new use.

  2. 02

The answer is built in two halves. What the facility draws today, established by measurement, and the new occupancy's equipment added per its own article.

  3. 03

Measuring the half that is staying is where the headroom is. An envelope calculation gives that away, and a restaurant fit-out rarely has room to spare.
